We are again preparing to offer the course on art and creative expression in social work practice and inquiry and would like to know if you have 35 books on hand (of your second CAIP text book, "Creative Arts in Research for Community and Cultural Change" for the students who will be registered in the course. If so, I will ask our Bookstore to contact you to place the order.

I wanted to let you know that the students enjoyed reading the chapters last year..(from the first CAIP text, "Creative Arts in Interdisciplinary Practice, Inquiries for Hope and Change") and gave good feedback about individual chapters. Some were very moving for them and others were inspiring and interesting."

Dr. T. Heinonen

The book, edited by J. Peter Rothe (University of Alberta Public Health) will be published in about one year's time."
Kind regards,

_____

"This book is filled with research, narratives and ideas for the student, scholar, community art-maker and anyone interested in using the arts to connect with and engage the marginalized in our communities. In Creative Arts in Interdisciplinary Practice, Inquiries for Hope and Change, editor Cheryl McLean enlists a talented and passionate group of researchers and practitioners to share their experiences using various art forms to change lives....McLean skillfully weaves a tapestry of empathic and innovative practices that provide a series of effective real-world strategies for engaging marginalized populations who are facing daunting social issues. Empathy is clearly the thread running through the text which connects the stories and experiences of the practitioners, patients and researchers described in these pages. "

Peter Cormier doctoral student, Educational Studies, Lesley University, Cambridge, Mass.

_______________

(this text) "tells stories and provides examples of how the arts may be used in social research to raise awareness, move the public to act, and provide help to marginalized populations. Information about various social issues is combined with stories of arts research projects, demonstrating the power of the arts to reach people and bring about change. The text inspires readers with its narratives of people coming together, helping one another and finding meaning through the creative arts. It is clear from the research that arts-informed research methods are inclusive to diverse populations."

Dr. Amy Clements-Cortes, Baycrest, University of Windsor
